Se volete fuggire dalla città e vedere un po' di più dell'Islanda, questo viaggio è l'ideale. Vi introduce alla costa meridionale del Paese, dove cascate fragorose, vulcani innevati e una linea costiera spoglia sono pronti ad attendervi.

Farete un paio di soste alle cascate più grandi della zona, Seljalandsfoss e Skogafoss, dove avrete abbastanza tempo per scattare qualche foto. Anche l'Eyjafjallajökull fa parte del programma.

Il vulcano che ha eruttato nel 2010 è oggi un'immagine di serenità, che dorme profondamente sotto un enorme strato di ghiaccio e neve. La vera attrazione della giornata, però, è Vik. Questa enorme spiaggia è ricoperta di ciottoli neri e vanta strane e meravigliose formazioni rocciose di basalto.

The weather was awful with blizzards. This meant we couldn’t see the beach at Vik. Driving conditions were terrible and I’m surprised the tour went ahead. The guide was lovely. We had a large family party who followed their own time keeping which was annoying especially as some people on the bus had to return for another trip. It was still an amazing experience but I think we will have to return to see the beaches properly.

Maybe you could lengthen the day so that you can have more time in the three locations and a shorter lunch could help with this too.

Guide was very knowledgeable and even added in an extra stop off for us to see the glacier. The sights were stunning. Would of liked a little more time in each place on the stop to be able to take more of the surroundings in but understand there is a time constraint too.

In 2010, the first manmade Glacier Ice Cave was carved to take people inside the heart of this remote glacier ice cap. What's more, you'll also visit the Hraunfossar Waterfall.After arriving at Husafell base, you'll climb onto a rugged snow truck to start your ascent to the ice cave, exploring the rugged glacial landscape along the way. An experienced guide will lead the way inside, where you'll see the magnificent blue ice buried deep beneath the surface that stays at a constant temperature of 0°.All this is combined with stunning waterfalls and panoramic views of the mountains as you make your way north to the glacier.
