  • It's a chance to savour the flavours of local delicacies – just save room for a traditional lunch too

  • Your tour is led by an expert local guide with an unrivalled knowledge of Tenerife and its culture
What to expect

With coastal roads, towering cliffs and valley-nestled villages, Tenerife's west is a joy to explore. On this tour in comfortable minivans, you'll go through a roll call of all the must-dos – local product tastings, exploring Teno Rural Park and visiting picture-postcard villages. Arianne, one of our expert guides, says, ‘You'll unearth the geology of Tenerife's past, discovering impressive landscapes along with the island's history and culture.'

It all begins in Icod de Los Vinos. A guided tour of the town takes in its centuries-old dragon tree – located in a park that's more like a botanic garden – traditional colonial-style architecture and a sampling of some local products. Then, it's on to the hard-to-reach ‘lost village' of Masca. Precariously perched on a ridge overlooking a rugged gorge, it's one of Tenerife's most jaw-dropping sights.

Next, you'll head down to Garachico on the coast, and discover why it's known as the ‘prettiest and unluckiest' town on the island. Stroll by its famous lava pools and see the historic castle before a lunch made from locally sourced ingredients in a family-run restaurant. It's an ideal setting for savouring Canarian cuisine. The afternoon sees you exploring the jagged peaks in craggy Teno Rural Park. It's famed for its laurel and pine forests as well as its exotic flora, so breathe in deeply for the full experience.

This tour was the highlight of our holiday! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The transport was high spec, the drivers were awesome, so informative and friendly, we felt safe. The coordination and organisation of pick-ups, meeting points and swapping over for relevant language speaking groups was well organised and swift. The Canarian Lunch was beautiful, again, well organised and very pleasant.

tour itself ok, but only 40 mins at Masca. Upon arrival at restaurant numbers on tour wrong, had to be given extra place squeezed onto end of table, cramped .and in way ,no choice of drink only water or poor white wine, no offer of beer or red wine.No flavour carrot soup, and very over cooked chicken that was brown through and difficult to chew with a bit of watery mash, no veg. The food on these trips used to be fine, will not go again.

We had a wonderful day out, unfortunately there were some of the guests who struggled to keep to the agreed time limits which made it annoying for the rest of us. We would recommend this trip to everyone .

Very enjoyable and informative, the frequent stops were welcome, we had been promised an all English trip, we were placed in a mixed English / German trip - it appeared to us the balance was towards German. It is important to deliver on your commitments, however we made the most of our trip…

The route winds along peaceful orchard paths and open countryside, where you're treated to views of the Chinyero volcanic area. Along the way, you'll learn about local farming life and how the island's microclimates bring the almond blossoms to life each winter. Carefully designed to connect you to both the land and the locals, the walk reflects a respectful approach to nature. Luis, one of our local expert guides, says, “these paths tell the story of our villages, by walking them respectfully we protect our landscape and keep our traditions alive.”Your day starts with a relaxed hotel pick-up, joining a small group as you wind your way up to the highland village of Santiago del Teide. That's where your expert hiking guide leads you onto the trail. From the very first steps, you'll feel the landscape shift – volcanic soil under your feet, old stone terraces, quiet hamlets and the scent of almond blossoms drifting across the fields. As you follow the well-marked path through the orchards, your guide will share stories about local farming traditions and why almond cultivation is such a big deal in this region. And of course, there's time to stop and snap some photos of the Chinyero foothills before you continue on.Lunch isn't included, but you'll have the chance to buy snacks, try a sweet-almond goodie or sit down to enjoy your own picnic. With transfers included, this outing is a super-easy, effortless way to experience a different side of the island on an exclusive TUI route that you won't find anywhere else.

VIP La Gomera by minivan tour from north of Tenerife

La Gomera is the Canary Island where time stood still. Be whisked away in VIP class on the ferry from Tenerife and explore its peaks and valleys in the best way possible – by luxury minivan. Highlights include Abrante viewpoint, San Sebastian and Garajonay National Park – Spain's last remaining rainforest. Arianne, one of our guides on this tour says, "La Gomera is a return to the past, to the origin of the Canary Islands. It's a totally different world."In little over half an hour after landing, you'll go from sea level to more than 1,300m as you snake your way up towards Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are camera-grabbing views of the island's Jurassic-like landscapes along the way. Garajonay is steeped in Canarian mythology, as your guide will explain. There's a stop to explore the mystical Laguna Grande laurel forest, which is so moist that many tree trunks are smothered in moss. You'll tuck into a typical Canarian lunch at a restaurant in the heart of this peaceful and natural forest setting. Here you'll experience a demonstration of silbo gomero, the ancient ‘whistling language' used by islanders to communicate over long distances from valley to valley. After this peek into the heritage of La Gomera, which is still taught in schools there today, you'll head to a square by the port for a drink, with free time to wander the capital, San Sebastian. Finish off the day in style as you head to the VIP section of the ferry where food and drinks are included to while away the crossing.
